Woom To Release Debut Album June 28th

Judd at BadaBing Records recently sent me the Woom’s yet unreleased debut album, Muu’s Way. It is set to drop June 28th and it should be something you definitely think about picking up. Woom’s debut album starts off slow, gently easing you into the tangled vocals of Eben Portnoy and Sara Mags. A shining example of experimental pop, each song layers a little more to the calmly subversive debut album. Give it a listen and see what you think.

Delta Spirit’s New Album Right Around the Corner

Delta Spirit is set to release their second album, History from Below, June 8th, which is right around the corner. Their tour in support of it begins today over seas but dont worry, they will be playing Houston, courtesy of Pegstar.net, July 16th at Mango’s. Here is a little taste of what is to come on their upcoming album.

Something From Me to You

As I go from show to show I tend to come across bands I haven’t heard before or meet new and interesting people. Houston is filled with a gargantuan amount music from metal to country to hip- hop and I will venture to say that I, no matter how hard I try,  have not heard nearly one tenth of it.  But, as I begin on my quest to do so I do come across amazing things that I feel obligated to share with you  and everyone I know. I am going to attempt to do this on a more regular basis and I’m hoping that with everyones help I will be able to show you something new, something local, something that you may or may have not heard or seen but will hopefully like. So I am gonna invite you to recommend bands, artists, simply anyone that is doing anything interesting here in our fair city.

About two weeks ago I caught Chase Hamblin, now I know he is not new to the scene and has been around for a while, but in all honesty I had not seen him play. The show was awesome and it seems that his full live band has at least one familiar face for me, Robert Ellis was sitting in on drums. Chase Hamblin and his music seems to have stepped right out of a time warp. He delivers a very upbeat happy sound that makes you feel secure though if you listen carefully there is a deeper more realistic message being dispensed. Simply put if you ever have had any kind of love for The Sgt Peper’s Lonely Hearts Club you will love this guy.  Here are just a few songs that you can listen and hear what you think.

Just a reminder If anyone has any suggestions of local musicians, artists or anyone doing anything of interst just let drop me a line at frank@indiehouston.org.

5/29 L.A.X. @ Walter’s Win a pair of tickets

L.A.X. has sure been making the rounds, already landing spots at SXSW, ACL and FFF. They have been on the move since L.A.X.’s birth in 2005 as an elctro duo quickly establishing themselves in Austin’s Party scene with the release of  “The L EP”.  In 2009 L.A.X. took on an expansion of sorts adding on an additional 4 members bringing it to its current  incarnation of  dance floor destroying digitally synthesized cultural fusion. Currently on tour celebrating the release of their 2nd in th trilogy of single letter album releases. The show is sure to be amazing with acts including our own Fat Tony, Hospital, Sensory Semories and Dj sets by one of my favorites Grrrl Parts.

Ok so for the give away….. If you want your chance to win a pair of tickets to catch L.A.X.  with an amazing line up go to our facebook page and post “L.A.X. 5/29 at Walter’s Courtesy Of Indiehouston and Walter’s On Washington” contest will close Thursday at Midnight.
