WHO:Producer/engineer/ musician Brian Kehew (Fiona Apple, Fleetwood Mac, the Ramones), producer/ arranger/songwriter Kevin Ryan (Hurts To Purr, Sarah Sharp, Southern Backtones), Recording Academy members, and music industry professionals.
WHAT: After a successful event with GRAMMY®-winning engineer Joe Chiccarelli in Dallas, the P&E Texas Tour 2009 is making its second stop in Houston to continue a series of educational programs. The tour will continue in Austin and San Antonio in July and early August. On this stop, Kehew and Ryan will discuss their book Recording The Beatles, which takes readers behind the scenes of some of the Beatles’ most famous recordings. A free music industry mixer will immediately follow the interactive discussion. Admission to the program is complimentary for Academy members. Non-members may attend for $50 per tour stop or join The Recording Academy® prior to this event for $100 (membership through June 2010) and receive complimentary admission for all four stops and future events. Kehew is also known for his band Moog Cookbook (partnered with former Jellyfish keyboardist Roger Joseph Manning Jr.), which released two eclectic albums, Moog Cookbook and Ye Olde Space Bande. Moog Cookbook recreated well-known songs using vintage keyboard synthesizers. In 2006, Moog Cookbook independently released a collection of previously unreleased material under the title, “Bartell.”

Kehew co-produced Fiona Apple’s album Extraordinary Machine. He also worked in studio with artists such as Eels, Eleni Mandell, Aimee Mann, Matthew Sweet, Michael Penn, Prick, Beck, and Jon Brion. Mixing work includes Aretha Franklin, Talking Heads, Little Feat, Fleetwood Mac, Ramones, Pretenders, Morrissey, Alice Cooper, The Faces, The Eagles, Black Sabbath, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Stooges, MC5, Yes, Elvis Costello, Judee Sill, Crazy Horse, Tiny Tim, Gene Clark, and Stone Temple Pilots.
