Indiehouston.org - Business Implementation Indiehouston.org is a project that the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization is currently working on to create a collective synergy amongst students interested in marketing, media, or business implementation. It is a collaborative effort with the school as well as the community to showcase local artists, musicians, filmmakers, graphic designers, and independent culture. Indiehouston.org needs photographers, writers, starving talents – we offer our members the chance to to work on interesting projects such as film, music videos, publishing, as well as concert promotion. In return, participating members get the recognition and experience needed to pursue their own Entrepreneurial efforts. Below is an example of how we built out the idea for indiehouston.org after constructing a central goal. Step 1 : We planned out the idea by first outlining how far we could take the idea for indiehouston.org using a basic template.
Step 2: We set up our first show within 30 days securing a venue, bands, and purchased a worthy sound system.Step 3: Understanding that marketing is key to any industry, we enlisted the help of local graphic designers within CEO to create a logo for branding.

Step 4: By collaborating with people that shared our passion for indiehouston.org, we built a website to market local art.
Step 5: Increased traffic to our website utilizing College Radio (91.7KTRU) and Communication via Press Releases http://indiehouston.org/about
Step 6: Utilized user submission,“We need writers. Anyone who is unpublished and writes please submit work. Through the website we spotlighted 2-3 pieces of writing on indiehouston. org every week…”increasing content and user interests.
Technology
Pictured Iphone App – Ideas to take advantage of New technology changes and market entry points. We are now utilizing Search Engine Optimization to increase traffic to our website. By using analytics software we can refine our marketing plan to name and frame what is resulting in the most traffic. By applying these efforts towards a project that has mutually beneficial outcomes for our organization and the artists we represent, a world of experience is gained to our members.
Indiehouston SXSW Festival March 20th, 2009
On March 20th in Austin, TX we secured a rather large field and an almighty stage to hosts some of Houston’s finest artists to the hundreds and thousands of people fighting to get into Austin during South by Southwest week.
Here is an intro of some calls for action from our local community…
The event will take place at a field next to Co-Lab Space at 613 Allen St Austin, TX 78702. They are an art alliance in Austin dedicated to promoting Art within their community and have graciously offered Houston a day to celebrate our own uniqueness. It is now time for us to work towards marketing our festival to fellow Houstonians and traveling music lovers across the world. We need help from the entire community to make this day as special as it can be. We have 18 local bands and 4 National Bands to play from 10am -2am. We will also be showcasing Houston Film projects towards the end of the night to be screened on a giant 15 X 20 inflatable screen behind the musicians playing. This festival is for the people in Houston that have always dreamed for the opportunity to make the biggest impression at one of the largest music and film events of the year. We need sponsorhips from the media, local businesses, and Entrepreneurs so that we can compete with the many perks being offered across the city. We need your help with:Alcohol Sponsors – Food Sponsors – Press Coverage – Press Sponsors – Printing Sponsors – Radio Coverage – Blogoshphere Coverage – Volunteers – Charter Busses – CD Pressings – Graphic and Digital Art – Fireworks Sponsorships – Record Label Sponsors – Film Sponsors – Fundraiser Sponsors – Industry Knowledge Sponsors – Community Collaboration – TV Coverage - Interviews – Idea People – Free Thinkers – Entrepreneurs – Local Business participation – Screen Printing – this list should go on as far as we can push it…Join the google Group below by clicking on the link and spreading the word for others to join the group as well!
